This book introduces readers to West Virginia, sparks an interest in attending college, and stresses ten traits of good character which West Virginians are proud to demonstrate. When it was first published, Dr. Atkins donated copies to all elementary schools throughout the State of West Virginia. Recently, she has donated books to the Mountaineer mascot and alternate mascot so they could not only read the book to children but also leave a copy at the various sites, such as Energy Express.

About the Author
Professor Emerita Carolyn Peluso Atkins grew up in Morgantown, WV, and is Coordinator of the Presidential Ambassadors Program at West Virginia University. Dr. Atkins created Student Athletes Speak Out (SASO), a character education program in 1990. WVU athletes enrolled in her public speaking class have read storybooks and presented speeches to thousands of elementary, middle, and high school students in the Morgantown area.
